Dermal Filler
Dermal fillers are injectable substances used to restore volume, smooth out wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. At Aesthetics Central we love the natural look and aim to enhance your existing beauty. This is why we use Hyaluronic Acid (HA) based fillers. HA is a natural occurring substance in the skin which attracts and retains moisture whilst providing hydration and volume.
Mechanism of Action
- The structure of HA allows for it to have a hydrophilic nature, meaning a strong ability to bind to and retain water molecules. Each HA molecule can hold up to 10000 times its weight in water.
- For durability HA molecules are cross-linked which creates a gel-like substance. Different fillers vary in types of cross-linking, which affects the fillers consistency, longevity and use.
- The filler is administered into the skin.
- Upon injection the HA molecules attract water in the area, providing immediate volume & smoothing effect.
- As a naturally occurring substance in the body, HA is biocompatible and typically does not trigger an immune response.
- The procedure is non-surgical and minimally invasive
- Results are instant.
- Results can last from 6-18 months
- It is not permanent as the body gradually breaks it down.
- You can always dissolve unwanted filler

FAQs
How long do dermal fillers last?
The longevity of dermal fillers varies depending on the type of filler used, the treatment area, and individual factors such as metabolism. On average, hyaluronic acid fillers can last between 6-18 months.
Are dermal fillers safe?
When performed by a qualified and experienced practitioner, dermal fillers are generally considered safe. It's important to discuss your medical history and any concerns with your practitioner before treatment.
Does the treatment hurt?
Some discomfort may be experienced. However, most fillers contain lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, which helps to minimise pain during the procedure. Additionally, we apply numbing cream to the treatment area before the injections to further reduce discomfort.
When will I see the results from dermal fillers?
Results from dermal fillers are usually visible immediately after the procedure. However, results can be seen once any initial swelling and bruising subside, typically within a week. Over time, as the filler integrates with the skin and collagen production is stimulated, the results may improve even further.
How can I maintain the results of dermal fillers?
To maintain the results of dermal fillers, regular maintenance treatments are recommended.
Can dermal fillers be reversed?
Most hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers can be reversed using an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which breaks down the filler and allows it to be absorbed by the body.
