Plasma treatments

Plasma treatments (PRP/PRF)

Platelet Rich Plasma & Platelet Rich Fibrin therapy is an injectable treatment derived from your own blood.

The concentrated platelets found in PRP/PRF contain growth factors which are vital to initiate and accelerate cell, follicle and tissue repair and regeneration.
These bioactive proteins cause:
Heal and repair connective tissue
Promotes development of new blood vessels
Stimulates the healing & restore hair follicles.

PRP/PRF Therapy is used for a broad range of both medical and cosmetic applications.

PRP/PRF therapy process

1. 10mls of blood is drawn from the arm as during a blood test.

2. The blood is spun in a centrifuge; this separates the red blood cells from the Platelet Rich Plasma/Fibrin.

3. Upon re-injection, the platelets release the growth factors which stimulate surrounding cells to reproduce, repair, and rejuvenate.

4. Depending on the treatment, the plasma can be applied to the desired areas via injections or microneedles

Plasma treatments (PRP vs PRF)

The blood prepared for PRF is spun at a slower rate than PRP, which is less damaging to the blood cells. PRF retains the integrity of the fibrin mesh – which contains more cytokines (in addition to the existing cytokines in PRP). Cytokines are required for growth factors and the healing processes. The mesh also allows slow release of the cytokines so that they remain active for a longer period.

Whilst PRP & PRF are both highly regenerative, PRF offers a longer-term release of the bioactive proteins

It is important to consider PRF works without an anticoagulant and clots at a faster rate. At Aesthetics Central we recommend utilising PRF on small areas of focus (i.e. under eyes, bald patches, particular blemishes). The reason for this is so we can make the most out of the amount of plasma produced.

Application of PRP/PRF

  • Hair restoration: PRP/PRF offers to support healthier hair growth, whilst also encouraging the rejuvenation of dormant hair follicles and scalp tissue.
  • Female intimate rejuvenation: PRP can aid in stress incontinence, vaginal dryness and sexual dysfunction.
  • Ligament & tendon repair: PRP stimulates connective tissue healing & repair whilst also promoting the development of new blood vessels.
  • Skin: PRP/PRF triggers healing, repair & regenerating elements within the skin layers which activates cell turnover and collagen production.
